On Saturday, May 3rd, nearly 50 women from all over Minnesota attended a Salad Luncheon and Benefit here at Waconia Moravian. We gathered as Moravians and friends from as far away as Altura, MN to celebrate being sisters in Christ. After a fantastic buffet of salads and desserts, Reverend Dr. Amy Gohdes-Luhman, pastor of Main Street Church in Northfield (and professor of divinity at St Olaf), presented a lively and informative talk about Amazing Women in the Bible.
The event was also a benefit for two mission projects focused on the needs of children near and far. Attendees donated 37 sets of new pajamas for children and their moms, to be distributed by the Southern Valley Alliance in Carver County and over $345 in cash donations were collected for the City of Joy in Guatemala. Many thanks for the generosity of all of our Sisters in Christ for contributions of food, time, money and pjs! The next gathering will be held sometime in the fall.
